Menorah

Menorah, 3" x 17"

Just a partial today -- I don't have a use for a very large menorah block, but I made up the candle part to use as a border section with my blue block set.

Angelsong

I'm substituting this pink ribbon heart block today.  A friend was just diagnosed with breast cancer, and we're going to be working on a "hug" quilt for her.

School Girl

School Girl, 8" x 12"

This block begins the LAST new color set for the year -- it'll all be downhill from here!!!  Would you believe I ended up with 39 different color sets?  Ha, lots of stash busted, and lots of donation quilts!

Bird House

Bird House, 6" x 10"

And the garden has a birdhouse. The Darting Birds from January will live here.

Tulip

Tulip, 8" x 10"

Another flower for the 30s garden.

Tulip Time

Tulip Time, 8" x 12"

I'm hoping to use several of these flower blocks in a 1930s garden wallhanging.

Missouri Puzzle

Missouri Puzzle, 13 1/2"

Hmmmm, I'm afraid this is either bad piecing or really bad pressing ...

Coffee Cup

Coffee Cup, 4" x 6"

I'd hoped to include this one with the tea party block set -- I made it up in tea-partyish colors, but it was too big to fit nicely with those blocks. So I made it again in brown: I'll save it for a group of gold and brown blocks coming up later in the year.

I think I'm not crazy about novelty-shaped blocks, and there are plenty of them in the calendar throughout the year!

Sugar bowl

Sugar bowl, 3 1/2" x 4"

This is the last block in the tea party series. They're quite small, so the wall hanging will just be a little whimsy piece.

Creamer

Creamer, 3 1/2" x 6"

I think I'm going to embellish these blocks with a little embroidery when I put them into a wall hanging.

Teacup

Teacup, 3 1/2" x 5"

The calendar doesn't include applique templates for any of these tea party handles, so my made-up shapes are different from the illustrated ones.

Teapot

Teapot, 6" x 11"

The next several days will feature novelty tea party blocks. I'm using springy colors and will have to figure out how to put them all into a small wallhanging.

Log Cabin Heart

Log Cabin Heart, 4.5"

A sweet little filler block. This must be the quickest one so far this year, only 7 pieces. It would be easy to resize. I used several of these in my Cherry Cordial top.

Sew and Sew

Sew and Sew finishes at 10" x 12"

This is the other block that I'll use in my "sewing" wallhanging. I customized the detail this year to make the block resemble my big Singer machine -- last year it looked more like my portable Kenmore.
