A nice straightfoward block, easy to piece. I decided to go back to the blue snowflake fabric bundle again -- the floral fabric isn't snowflakey, but it was the correct color to combine with this group. I'm trying to consume old scraps!

Snow Crystals

Snow Crystals, a 16" block. Lots of little triangles, but big results! Just twelve of these blocks with some sashing and borders would make a nice lap quilt.

Snowy Windows, an 8" block. I think this one is pretty! Our windows looks just like this when it snows.

I sewed it the easy way: a circle top-stitched onto a square and then cut into fourths, rather than all those little applique parts.

Snowball, a very easy 6" block to get started with.

I'm going to follow the same color combination each day as the block presented on the calendar page. I've done some planning ahead to see what blocks can eventually be combined into quilts, and I've organized and bagged up color bundles to work from. I'll be doing the first group of "blue and light" blocks with a snowflake background fabric as a unifier. By the end of the year, there will be close to 30 color groups going! Next year I'll be ready to create quite a stack of quilts: a few for my own collection and many donation quilts!!
